Historic Chicago Conference to Highlight Race, Gender, and State Violence Against Women of Color and Trans People of Color
INCITE!, a national organization of radical women of color and trans people of color, will host a major conference entitled, Color of Violence 4 (COV4)--Beyond the State: Inciting Transformative Possibilities. Featured speakers will include Marissa Alexander, CeCe McDonald, Renata Hill, Angela Davis, and Rasmea Odeh, all of whom were prosecuted and incarcerated in high profile cases throughout the nation.
The conference will be held at Chicago’s Hyatt Regency McCormick Place on March 26-29, 2015. This gathering will mark INCITE!’s fifteen years of engaging in grassroots organizing projects, national actions, transnational campaigns, and community building strategies.

WHY: Over 1600 people from across North America are expected to attend workshops, brainstorm sessions, share community-based resources, develop media projects, mobilize grassroots responses, that address issues such as rape, domestic violence, immigrant justice, police brutality and mass incarceration. The goal of INCITE! is to end colonial, racial, and gender-based violence against women of color, trans and queer people of color and our communities.
